Economic Sanctions, Kremlin: West Acting Like Bandits, Russia Will Respond

Western countries are behaving like bandits and Russia is too big to be isolated, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Saturday (5/3/2022).

Peskov said the West was engaged in "economic banditism" against Russia.

He also said that Russia was too big to be isolated because the world was much wider than the United States and Europe. Telugu News Live Tv Channels

"This does not mean Russia is isolated," Peskov said. "The world is too big for Europe and America to isolate a country, and even more so a country as big as Russia. There are many countries in this world."

Peskov said Moscow would respond to Western actions.

He did not specify what response would be taken, only saying it would be in Russia's interests.

Peskov added that if the US imposed sanctions on Russia's energy exports, the sanctions would give a major shock to energy markets.

The military action launched by Russia in Ukraine since last week has triggered international sanctions, especially from Western countries. (Reuters/ant/mii)

No longer importing gas from Russia since 2015, Ukraine is now turning to Poland

Ukraine will import gas from Poland from March 6, 2022, including gas from Polish liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, the operator of Ukraine's state-owned gas transit system said Saturday.

The two transit operators agree on a guaranteed capacity for gas imports .

"This allows the physical import of gas from Poland, including from LNG terminals, with (capacity) guarantees," the Ukrainian company said on social media.

The company has not provided additional details.

Ukraine, one of Europe's biggest gas consumers, has not imported gas from Russia since 2015 and is buying it in Europe.

It was previously reported that Russia's state-owned gas company, Gazprom, was shipping the same volume of natural gas to Europe via Ukraine, ie 109.5 million cubic meters per day, on Friday, Russia's state news agency RIA said, citing a Ukrainian gas pipeline operator.

Russia's military actions in Ukraine have prompted many countries to impose economic sanctions.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on February 22 announced the suspension of the process for certifying the Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline.

The Nord Stream 2 natural gas pipeline is estimated to be able to transport 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea. However, the 1,234 kilometer long pipeline cannot be operated yet because it is waiting for permission from Germany and the European Union.
